Looking towards West Melbourne from Parliament House. Photographed by Charles Nettleton. In the foreground is the Princess Theatre Hotel, part of the Princess Theatre, and on the corner of Spring Street and Little Bourke Street. The theatre is still extant although the hotel is not. Crossing Little Bourke Street is a wood yard, then J Seymour, couch maker, a window blind factory, a small iron building holding a cooperage, a cloth cap manufacturer and a french polisher. In the middle ground is a large tented structure, possibly a circus
