Sign up using this form if you're in one of our library buildings or planning to visit one in the next few days.
Library membership is available to all Victorian residents.
- Visit one of our libraries to validate your membership
- You will need to provide an acceptable form of ID which includes your date of birth.
- Once you've validated your membership, you will have access to physical and digital collections.
Become an "online only" library member
This membership will give you immediate access to eLibrary collections, including eBooks and eAudiobooks.
Library membership is available to all Victorian residents over the age of 18.
- Once you've joined you can immediately borrow and stream our eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines, music and films online. Just make sure you follow the instructions in the letter we will send you, or visit a library branch to ensure uninterrupted access.
- You will be sent a letter to prove your Victorian address. Enter the code that is printed on this letter in your account within 3 weeks to validate your membership.

Membership for people visiting Melbourne for a few days or months. Borrow 2 items and use PCs.
Fill in this form then visit a staff desk (you'll need to know your Melbourne address).
You will need to provide an acceptable form of ID which includes your date of birth.
Membership is valid for 3 months but can be renewed in person.
