By 1895, it was owned by William Giblett, a butcher of Queensberry Street who leased it to Charles Potts a solicitor with offices in Little Collins Street.Description- An asymmetrically planned, double-fronted polychrome Italianate brick villa with a cast-iron verandah, bracketted eaves, and a timber picket fence. A two-storey section at the rear appears to have been added after 1896, replacing a timber skillion.Integrity - Generally original excepting the trim colour.Streetscape - Contributive part of the Carro11 Street row house precinct, matched by 27 (altered) in materials..Significance-Architecturally, a common villa type but in near original condition and a major part of a streetscape; of local importance.Historically, associated with the upper middle and middle classes in the area, including its first owner, a member of the iron founding industry which iswell represented there.Reconmendations - Repaint, trim and fence in original or typical colours; record fence details for use in precinct restoration; use ogee gutters..References:(RB= Rate book; D= Melbourne or Victoria Directory)1.
