Image held by North Melbourne Library.Original first floor layout of North Melbourne Mechanics Institute (now North Melbourne Library).Notes: The original designation of each room has changed dramatically over the last millennium; The Free Reading Room today, is the Non-Fiction/Magazine reading room with Public PC's. The Circulating Library room is now the staff office, with the Member's Room now functioning as the staff's kitchen/lunch room. The Billiard Room was, for a time, the staff offices, with the Reading room serving as its adjoining kitchen. Today, the old Billiards Room is now The Hotham room, a public bookings space. The Reading Room is now the Local History room. The Court area is now occupied by both staff and public toilets.
