Image held by North Melbourne Library.Heaton House. 279 Adderley Street, West Melbourne.Angled view of Heaton House in the 1970's. Heaton House was built by John Greenwood (1831-1915), a British builder who emigrated to Australia in 1856. Building completion date unknown. The balcony has twin fin walls with cast iron lacework and lattices as well as a parapet and large chimney. The side fence is visibly misaligned and in a state of disrepair. Both the house and fence still exist today, fully restored to it's original grand glory.Inscription on back of photograph - "Exp. 1 Sunday 2-7-1972 Late Victorian House, cnr Adderley + Railway Pl.
