The bowler is MCC all-rounder, Jim Sims..During a chanceless time at the crease, ROSS GREGORY was in command of a full range of shots, dealing with short balls by hooking proficiently and demonstrating a perfect pull shot technique..Sadly this shot was also his downfall, as he pulled a short one from paceman Ken Farnes onto his stumps, ending his innings..After publishing the full photo the next day, The Age used this cropped action photo of Gregory twice more to accompany future stories about him..Featured in "Newsworthy : Melbourne in photographs 1933-1936", an exhibition held at East Melbourne Library from October to December 2023. Exhibition caption by project volunteer, Ernie Ward..
