General notes:
Grading as at 1999 : DPeriod : Interwar, construction date 1925A single-storey planned red brick house with a glazed terracotta tiled roof. The house has a deep setback and is elevated above the street level by a high plinth. The asymmetrically composed facade has a canted bay and a gabled entrance porch that is accessed by a short flight of stairs. Window openings are timber-framed double-hung sashes with highlights, while the entrance door has both side and fanlights. The side gate has been replaced. It is of local historical and aesthetic interest, dating from a relatively late subdivision which occurred following the demolition of the Melbourne Benevolent Asylum. Aesthetically, the house is a representative example of an inter-War villa. The house is a typical inter-War villa which contributes to the largely Edwardian and inter-War character of the streetscape. The house represents a particular phase of development in North Melbourne following the subdivision of the former Benevolent Asylum grounds.
