General notes:
North Melbourne Town Hall and Post Office, from the corner of Errol St and Queensbury St, 1960's.Notes: A relative number of tramway electric cables cross the centre of the scene like an industrial spiderweb, as locals go about their day on the streets nearby. A row of five public telephone boxes can be seen on the Queensbury St side of the Town Hall. The clock tower declares it to be 9:10 am.The site was originally the town Courthouse, and building of the Town hall was completed in early 1876. The cost was £12,000 (approx. $2,116,000.00 in 2020).(Source: https://www.measuringworth.com/calculators/australiacompare/relativevalue.php).The building was designed by architect Mr. George R. Johnson, and the contractor was Mr. David Parry.(Source: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/60447008)The building was renamed North Melbourne Town Hall in August, 1887 when the town was renamed North Melbourne.
