No. 12 is of early Victorian origin and No. 14 was built in the early 1920's. During the second world war it was occupied by the Department of the Interior. In 1959 it was purchased by the Amateur Sports Club for £ 18,500. The building was refurbished at a cost of £32,000 with the ground floor converted to retail and the upper levels into recreation facilities such as a billiards room and squash courts. In 1979 the Council's Building Surveyor's Department closed the upper levels. In 1988 after refurbishment the building was reopened.
