Henderson, of Flemington Road, North Melbourne, died after a brief Illness last night. She was one of Melbourne's most capable business women. When Mr James Kerr Henderson, her husband, who founded the business of Henderson's Federal Spring Works Pty. Ltd., of Elizabeth Street and North Melbourne, died about 33 years ago, she became the managing director of the firm, and carried it on successfully up to the time of her death. Mrs Henderson, in addition to her business activities, took a warm Interest In philanthropic work. She was especially interested in the Melbourne City Mission, which she helped liberally. She was a former president of the North Melbourne branch of the Australian Natives Association and of the Women's National League in that suburb, and frequently lectured on health and hygiene. She was born In Flinders Lane, and was 72 years of age. Her death will be greatly regretted by many. Of 13 children, seven survive her— six sons and a daughter, five of whom are in the business. The burial will take place tomorrow morning In the Coburg Cemetery. The arrangements are in the hands of Mr Alfred Allison..The Herald (Melbourne, Vic. : 1861 - 1954)Tuesday 19 August 1930 - Page 21https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/242758219LARGEST SPRING-MAKING WORKS IN SOUTHERN HEMISPHEREHenderson's North Melbourne Enterprise… history of firm (Alfred st).1937HENDERSON'S FEDERAL SPRING WORKS PTY.
