They are first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1917 when the occupants were John Walsh and Norbal Pike respectively..Description:The houses at 25-27 Westbourne Road comprise a pair of semi-detached, red brick Edwardian Queen Anne style residences with terracotta tiled hipped and gabled roofs. Both houses are constructed on high brick plinths and have projecting rectangular bay windows. No. 25 has timber-framed casement windows with a timber bracketed hood and a rendered string course at sill level. No. 27 has a pair of double-hung sash windows, also with a hood, although altered. The side entrances are located in recessed porches with timber fretted friezes. Front fences, rendered brick at No. 25 and timber picket at No. 27, are not original..Significance:The houses at 25-27 Westbourne Road, Kensington, are of local historical and aesthetic interest. The pair is an example of the type of small cottages which were constructed in large numbers in this part of Kensington in the 1910s, and are of note for their brick construction, unusual in the area during this period. The houses are contributory elements in a largely intact streetscape.
