The subjects taught will be educational as well as utilitarian, but ornamental, veneer and useless subjects will- have no place in the programme. The courses of study, will form the foundational training of the Technical Mechanical Engineer, the Electrical Engineer, the Mining Engineer, the Technical Chemist, the wood, stone, and metal worker, and those, who follow branches of such work. The subjects taught will, be English, history, geography, mathematics (including .algebra, Euclid, mensuration, and arithmetic), elementary science (which will be mainly .carefully con ducted laboratory work in ' mechanic, heat, and the elements of electricity and chemistry). Object drawing, and modelling, woodworking and drawing, steel metal work, and drawing will be taught so as to supply the hand and eye training so necessary to the technical worker.Provision has been made for 200-day students, and for about 300 evening students. The day students will be required to attend classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five days each week, and the evening students from 7.15 to 9.15. Boys will be admitted to the day courses who have reached the age of at least 14 years, or who have obtained their merit certificate. The evening classes will be open to those who desire to make a start on any branch of technical school work. .. N After one year's preparatory work, both day and evening students can take up the higher work in technical schools with advantage. It is stated that, with all their limitations, the technical schools all over the State have done excellent work In the past, and that hundreds of men who are now successful In many branches of industry owe their success to the instruction they received — in fact that it would be difficult to find any student who passed through his course successfully who did not make rapid progress when he entered on his life's work. The school is under the direct control of the Education Department. Mr P. M'Cormick has been appointed head master, while masters specially selected for their technical knowledge have been assigned to each department. These will be assisted by a competent staff. The fees for day students will be 30/ and for evening students 7/6 per term of ten weeks. Twenty entrance scholar ships for day and twenty evening scholarships for evening students will . he awarded to candidates who obtain the highest number of marks at an examination to be held during the first weeks in February. The subjects of examination will be English, History and Geography. Parents and students who desire information can obtain it by applying to the headmaster, Melbourne Junior Technical School, Latrobe street west.1920SCHOOL'S NAME CHANGEDWith the approval of the Education Department, the name of the Melbourne Junior Technical School has beenchanged to West Melbourne Technical School.1921https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/204260550UNVEILING AN HONOR ROLL.WEST MELBOURNE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.The honor Toll of the West Melbourne Technical School (formerly known as the Melbourne Junior Technical School) was unveiled by Major-General Sir John Gellibrand at the Athenaeum Hall lost night.….Prior to the unveiling the chairman (Mr. D.
