General notes:
Grading as at 1985 : CPeriod : Early Victorian (1873-1874)Grantee : Morgan & Co 1859The first owner of these row houses in 1873, was probably one or both William and Walter McGeorge, blacksmiths and farriers. Soon after construction they sold it to a Mr Morgan. The owner for the 10 years before 1895 was probably Joseph Ellis, the prominent galvanized iron manufacturer. The residents were a very representative group of North Melbournians such as William Foy (a coachbuilder) Joseph Lock, a blacksmith and early on William Kemp a commission agent.A two-storey, stuccoed brick row of two houses with simply corniced parapets which front a transverse-gable roof line. Symmetrical architraved fenestration is distributed under and over a string-mould.Architecturally, of a typically simple stuccoed form for its construction date and thus architecturally undistinguished except as representative of type, but with a strong streetscape presence: of high local importance.
