General notes:
The building at 633 Queensberry Street first appears in the rate books in 1877 as a brick dwelling of 3 rooms valued at £16, and owned by Thomas Gamor, a bootmaker, who had previously owned two wooden shops on the same site. In 1878, the present building was listed a four room brick shop valued at £30.It is a double-storey, nineteenth century rendered brick Italianate building. The roof is concealed behind a stepped parapet with a rendered and moulded cornice and vermiculated panels above moulded console brackets. The first floor level contains a pair of timber-framed double-hung sash windows with mesh screens fitted to the lower sashes. The shopfront has been altered. It is of local aesthetic and historical interest. The building is representative of the type of commercial development which occurred in North Melbourne during the Boom period. Despite alterations to the shopfront, the Victorian qualities of the building remain apparent.
