G. Healing and Co. Pty. Ltd., in a'Beckett street, west of Elizabeth street, a few days ago. The coin is larger than the current bronzepenny-piece and is perfectly preserved. It was sold by the finder to a representative of the firm for a florin. In 1837 the land on which the coin was found was sold by the Crown for about £10 an acre. It is now worth about £100,000 an acre. On the showing of this comparison it is seemingly far more profitable to invest money than to bury it in real estate. The land was formerly occupied by some old residences. Up till a few years ago half-crowns and other pieces of an earlier date than 1827 were current here.(see below)https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/3889986 illust.New 7 storey showroom, factory, warehouse and offices building at 175 Franklin St and Anthony st corner- Sydney Smith, Ogg & Serpell and builder F E Shillabeer and Sons1936https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/132032889A.
