General notes:
Building type: FlatsPeriod; Date: 1940History: The flast were built in 1940. The Melbourne City Council Building Applications Index records that in February of that year, a permit was granted for the construction of the flats to cost £5,670. The building is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1941, identified as Weston Hall Flats.Description: The building is a three-storey inter-War block of flats. Walls are of brick with steel-framed windows which have asymmetrical mullions in a typically Moderne style. The front elevation is dominated by a semi-circular, partly-enclosed stairwell. The hipped roof is clad in terracotta tiles. The external brickwork has been painted.Significance: Weston Hall Flats are of local historical and aesthetic interest. Historically, the building is demonstrative of residential development in South Yarra in the later inter-War period, a major period of flat development in the area. Aesthetically, although the building has been altered, its overall form remains intact.
