Building type: HotelPeriod; Date: Inter-WarHistory: The John Curtin Hotel, formerly the Lygon Hotel, dates from c.1860. It is listed in the Sands & McDougall directory of that year as 'hotel erecting'. The following year the building is listed as the Lygon Hoel, with William Stewart the licensee. The building was remodelled, and probably enlarged, in the inter-War period. It was known as the Lygon Hotel until 1971, when its name was changed to the John Curtin n Hotel, apparently after its then proprietor, J Curtin.Intactness / Condition: GoodSky board sign "John Curtin Hotel - Victoria Bitter"
