General notes:
Grading as at 1999: Upgraded from E to DPeriod: Early Victorian, built c 1871These houses comprised a pair of single-storey, single-fronted Victorian terrace-style cottages. The walls were of rendered masonry and the transverse gabled roof was clad in corrugated galvanised steel. Each façade had a timber-framed double-hung sash window and timber-panelled entry doors with fanlight, with that at No. 140 being infilled. There was a central unpainted rendered brick chimney with corbelled capping and terracotta pots. They were of local historical and aesthetic interest, representative of the modest cottages which proliferated in North and West Melbourne in the Victorian period. They were reasonably intact and an interesting element in the streetscape. Both houses have been demolished.
