General notes:
Period; EdwardianConstruction date: c1915History:The house at 38 Bayswater Road first appears in the Sands & McDougall directories in 1916 as a house being built. The following year, the occupant is noted as John Waddell, who resided in the house for forty years. In 1960, the occupant of the house was recorded as Mrs Catherine Waddell..Description:The house at 38 Bayswater Road is a single-storey, block-fronted Edwardian house with a hipped corrugated galvanised steel roof with bracketed eaves. A skillion-roofed verandah extends across the façade, supported on turned timber posts; the frieze decoration has been removed. Windows are timber-framed casements with highlights. The timber picket fence is recent..Significance:The house at 38 Bayswater Road, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic interest. The house is representative of the more modest housing which was constructed in Kensington during the early years of the twentieth century. The house is intact and contributes to the predominantly Edwardian nature of the surrounding streetscape.
