The first definite listing of the house in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1912, when the occupant of the house as listed as John S Robertson..Description:The house at 31 Westbourne Road is a single-storey, block-fronted Edwardian cottage with a hipped corrugated galvanised steel roof with bracketed eaves. Raised on a high plinth, the house has a small timber post verandah accessed by a flight of stairs. Windows are timber-framed casements and the timber-panelled entrance door has sidelights. The chimney is of red brick with a corbelled capping. The steel front fence is not original..Significance:The house at 31 Westbourne Road, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. The house is an example of the type of small timber Edwardian cottages which were constructed in large numbers in this part of Kensington in the 1910s.
