General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction date: c1914History:The houses at 7-9 Henry Street were constructed c.1914. They are first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1915, when the occupants were Mrs Rose A Spence and a Mr Byrne, respectively..Description:The houses at 7-9 Henry Street are single-storey, block-fronted Edwardian cottage with a set back side entrance. The gabled roof is clad in corrugated galvanised steel. The gable end is half-timbered and has roughcast rendered infill. A bullnose profile verandah extends across the facade and has turned timber posts and a cast iron lacework frieze. Windows are paired timber-framed double-hung sashes. The woven wire fence is not original..Significance:The houses at 7-9 Henry Street, Kensington, are of local historical and aesthetic interest. Historically, the houses represent the architectural development of the area in the Edwardian period. Aesthetically, the houses are reasonably intact representatives of the type of small Edwardian cottages which were built in large numbers in Kensington in the 1910s.
