General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction date: c1911History:The house at 90 Bayswater Road first appears in the Sands & McDougall directories in 1912. The occupant of the house was recorded as William Elliot, who resided in the house for over a decade. By 1930, the house was occupied by Mrs L Ryan who remained in the house until the 1970s..Description:The house at 90 Bayswater Road is a single-storey block-fronted Edwardian villa with a hipped and gabled corrugated galvanised steel roof. The L-shaped plan incorporates a projecting bay beside a bullnose-profile verandah with turned timber posts and timber fretwork. Windows are timber-framed casements. There are two rendered chimneys with moulded caps. The steel and wire front fence is not original..Significance:The house at 90 Bayswater Road, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic interest. The house is representative of the small timber cottages which were built in great numbers in Kensington in the Edwardian period. The house is relatively intact and its scale and form contribute to the nature of the surrounding streetscape.
