General notes:
The house at 10 Purcell Street is a modest single-storey, single fronted residence, constructed of brick on a bluestone plinth, and with a parapet gabled slate roof. The facade has a single door and window opening, both with brick voussoirs and, apart from a dog-tooth brick string course along the parapet, the house has no ornamentation. A brick chimney with a corbelled cap penetrates the ridge of the roof.It is of local aesthetic and historical significance. It is a typical example of the type of modest workers' housing that was erected in Melbourne's inner suburbs, and relates visually to that at No. 12.
