George Knox Howatt, boot dealer, of Little Collins-street, with threatening her life and failing to support her. Complainant stated that whilst on a visit to her husband's shop on 27th ult., he accused her of wasting his money. On returning, to his home, in Tyne-street, Carlton, that night he beat two of the youngest children with a boot, and when she interfered, hethreatened to murder her. . He left the house, and did not come back until 5th inst, when be again threatened her. They were so afraid of him that they got a friend, Mr. Wm. McIver, boot maker to stay in the house, and they barricaded themselves...1904`…the detectives went yesterday in the company of Schwamm and the accused's wife to the house of George Howatt a bootmaker living in Little Collins street and arrested Howattt upon a charge of stealing a propertyvalued at £10 from the house of Schwamm...On Monday evening Hoivatt, whose wife had left him went to the house in Collingwood where Schwamm and Mrs Howatt were He entered the house and it is seen by Schwamm and Mrs Howatt who fled through the back door...
