It is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1908, when it was occupied by Mrs E Swanson, who remained there until 1910..Description:The house at 58 Tennyson Street is a single-storey block-fronted Edwardian cottage with a hipped corrugated galvanised steel roof with bracketed eaves. The skillion roofed verandah, altered in the inter-War period, has squat rendered masonry piers and balustrade. The window is a tripartite double-hung sash, and the timber door has side and fanlights. Chimneys are of red brick with rendered bases and moulded cappings. The woven wire fence is not original..Significance:The house at 58 Tennyson Street, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. The house is an example of the type of small timber Edwardian cottages which were constructed in large numbers in this part of Kensington in the 1910s. Aesthetically, the house is reasonably intact and of note for its incorporation of a number of typically nineteenth century elements including moulded chimney caps and bracketed eaves. The house is a contributory element in the streetscape.
