It is one of a number of houses on the south side of Westbourne Road constructed in the period 1910-1916. The first definite listing of the house in the Sands & McDougall directory is in 1917, when the occupant of the house is listed as Stephen F Fanner..Description:The house at 47 Westbourne Road is a single-storey block-fronted Edwardian cottage with a hipped and gabled corrugated galvanised steel roof and raised on a high plinth. The gable end is half-timbered with roughcast render infill. A small bullnose-profile verandah extends across the facade, supported on turned timber posts and accessed by a short flight of stairs. The original verandah frieze decoration has been removed. Windows are timber-framed casements and the entrance door, located within a recessed porch, has narrow sidelights. The timber picket fence is recent..Significance:The house at 47 Westbourne Road, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. The house is an example of the type of small timber Edwardian cottages which were constructed in large numbers in this part of Kensington in the 1910s. The house is a contributory element in a largely intact streetscape.
