General notes:
Image held by North Melbourne Library. Elevation, plans and section. Contract dated 4 February 1887. The Victoria Street shops were erected in 1887 and were used for both domestic and commercial purposes. This is reflected in the different architectural elements and building materials used in the two levels. Unity of the building is created through the repetition of the façade. The rendered elevation is a fine example of 19th Century drafting, giving a picturesque impression of the building before actual construction.
