General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction date: 1904History:The house at 72 Bayswater Road first appears in the Sands & McDougall directories in 1905. The house, known as Riversdale, was occupied by A Quarry. By 1910, W Dolin resided in the house while Mrs Bridget Dolin is recorded as the occupant from 1915 until the 1930s..Description:The house at 72 Bayswater Road is a single-storey single-fronted Edwardian weatherboard cottage with a hipped and gabled corrugated galvanised steel roof and a set back entrance to one side. The verandah has turned timber posts and cast iron decoration. The gable end has half-timber and roughcast render infill. Windows are timber-framed double-hung sash windows. The timber picket fence is recent..Significance:Riversdale, at 72 Bayswater Road, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic interest. The house represents the modest cottages which were built in Kensington during the early years of the twentieth century. The house is intact and contributes to the nature of the surrounding streetscape.
