General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction date: c1914History:The house at 11 Hardiman Street was constructed c.1914. It is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directories of 1915, when its occupant was Alexander Penaluna, who remained there until at least 1920..Description:The house at 11 Hardiman Street is a single-storey, weatherboard Victorian residence with a gabled corrugated galvanised steel roof. The gable end is half-timbered. A verandah with a corrugated galvanised steel bullnose profile roof returns around the gabled bay, and has non-original steel posts. Windows are double-hung sashes. The house retains its original bichromatic brick chimney with corbelled capping. The picket fence appears to be recent..Significance:The house at 11 Hardiman Street, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic interest. It is a substantially intact example of the type of modest Edwardian cottages which were constructed in large numbers during the first two decades of the twentieth century.
