General notes:
Period/Date: Inter-War, c1935History: The house was constructed c1935. It is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1936 as a house being constructed between Nos. 281 and 291 Walsh Street. The following year Gerald McHarg is listed as the first occupant.Description: The house is a double-storey inter-War residence, asymmetrically planned with hipped roofs with wide eaves. Cubic in form, walls are rendered and the asymmetrically-located windows are multi-paned, timber-framed double-hung sashes.Significance: The house is of local historical and aesthetic interest. It is representative of the more substantial residences which were erected in South Yarra and Toorak in the inter-War period, a major phase in the development of the area. Aesthetically, the house is indeterminate in style; of note is its cubic and austere form.
