General notes:
Grading as at 1985: BPeriod: Early Victorian, construction date c1871Grantee : W Teale 1859Large double dwelling, perhaps the former Rob Roy Hotel, or on the site. For many years it was Deckers Restaurant, before being converted to a house. It was constructed and owned by Michael Moran in 1871. Soon after its construction he sold it to Edward Grieve. The publican at the time was John Connelly. From about 1875 it was described as a brick shop. From 1885 it was owned by Elizabeth Johnstone, and leased to Mrs England, Mrs Ellingsworth, Mrs Ward and Perry Moorhouse.A two storey stuccoed brick building with a corniced and parapetted roof line, flat window pediments and architraves, a storey string mould and unusual, naively expressed acroteria at the parapet. Coupled upper windows provide the central emphasis to parallel the wide, bracketted and pedimented entrance, now two entrances.
