Abattoirs and Cattle Markets Department Annual report for year ended 30 September 1948 from the Superintendent of Abattoirs, with a covering letter from the Town Clerk to the Superintendent of Markets. While there was a substantial improvement in the figures, it had still not reached the heights of 1945 and other war years. This affected the export trade.The increase in revenue from by-products has been largely due to increased prices and and will be better when there is an improvement to the costly wasteful methods of collecting blood and offal.
