The first occupant, listed the following year, was William Ferrie..Description:The house at 21 Westbourne Road is a single-storey double-fronted Italianate style block-fronted villa with a hipped roof with bracketed eaves. Symmetrically composed, the central entrance is flanked by timber-framed double-hung sash windows. A verandah extends across the facade, supported by turned timber posts and bisected by a small gable which marks the entrance. Chimneys are rendered, with moulded cappings. Alterations include the recladding of the main and verandah roofs with artificial tiles and the removal of the verandah frieze decoration. The timber picket front fence is recent..Significance:The house at 21 Westbourne Road, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. Historically, the house represents the major, formative phase of suburban development of the part of Kensington west of Epsom Road. Aesthetically, the house is a late example of an Italianate style timber villa which contributes to the Victorian and Edwardian streetscape of Westbourne Road.
