General notes:
Image of the memorial to John Batman at the Old Melbourne Cemetery. Photograph of a large group of people waiting for the unveiling of a monument to John Batman. The monument was raised by public subscription in 1881 by J. J. Shillinglaw. The remains of John Batman were then transferred to the Fawkner Cemetery. The memorial has since been returned to the Queen Street side of Queen Victoria Market.
