General notes:
Freemason's Hotel, corner of Curzon and Victoria Streets, North Melbourne. In front of the hotel are a number of Hansom Cabs, belonging to Thomas Hayes. His wife was the licensee of the hotel at the time. There is a woman looking out of one of the second storey windows. The Griffiths Building in Errol Place, can be seen quite clearly. The hotel was delicensed in 1904, but the building was used for other purposes for a time after that. Eventually it was demolished for Brown Gouge drycleaners. This image is from Cyclopedia of Victoria, published 1903.
