It is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1915, when the occupant was Patrick Neville..Description:The house at 27 Kensington Road is a single-storey weatherboard Edwardian villa with a hipped and gabled roof clad in corrugated galvanised steel. L-shaped in plan, the house has a verandah which abuts a projecting gabled bay. The house has suffered numerous alterations. The original block-fronting has been replaced, the original windows replaced by timber and aluminium-framed windows and the verandah replaced by a flat-roofed structure supported on steel posts. The chimney is red brick with a rendered cap. The timber picket fence is not original..Significance:The house at 27 Kensington Road, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. The house is representative of the development in the area in the early twentieth century. Aesthetically, the house is an intact example of the Edwardian timber villas which were constructed in this part of Kensington in the 1910s and is a contributory element in a largely intact streetscape. Although altered, the individual value of the house is reinforced by its setting within a largely intact streetscape.
