General notes:
Grading as at 1999: Upgraded from E to DPeriod: Early Victorian constructed 1872This house is a single-storey, single-fronted Victorian cottage. The walls are of rendered masonry, and the transverse gabled roof is clad in corrugated galvanised steel. The verandah has cast iron decoration and terminates at rendered wing walls. The façade has an entrance door and a single timber-framed double-hung sash window. It is of local historical and aesthetic interest. The house, which originally formed a pair with No. 248 (now demolished) and known as Blantyre Cottages, is representative of the speculatively-built modest housing which was constructed throughout North and West Melbourne in the Victorian period. Aesthetically, the house is reasonably intact, and despite the demolition of its pair, remains an interesting element in the streetscape, relating visually to the pair at Nos. 252-254.
