The City of Melbourne Building Application Index however, indicates that a permit to construct the building was issued on 17 March 1927. The value of the proposed house was noted as #1000. The first occupant of the house is recorded in the directories as David Jackson, who remained in the house for several years..Description:The building at 64 Bayswater Road is a single-storey inter-War house, constructed in red brick with a hipped roof clad in Marseilles pattern terracotta tiles. The verandah roof is continuous with the main roof, extending across the facade and supported on red brick piers with paired timber posts, and by a timber bracket at one end. The windows are timber-framed double-hung sashes, with four-pane upper sashes. The side entry has a tiled timber-framed canopy. The brick chimney has a clinker brick cap. The cream brick front fence is not original..Significance:The house at 64 Bayswater Road, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic interest. The house is an interesting example of an inter-War brick villa which is largely intact and contributes to the surrounding streetscape, relating particularly to Nos. 62, 66 and 68.
