General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction: pre-1913History:The house at 23 Westbourne Road was constructed c.1911. The house is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1912, when the occupant was Julius R Bradford. During the following decade, various members of the Bradford family, including a Rudolph and an Elizabeth, lived in the house..Description;The house at 23 Westbourne Road is a single-storey weatherboard Edwardian villa, built on an L-shaped plan with a hipped roof and raised on a high plinth. The verandah has timber posts and timber balustrade; some of the original timber brackets remain. Alterations include the recladding of the roof with artificial tiles and the replacement of the original windows. The timber picket fence is recent..Significance:The house at 23 Westbourne Road, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. The house is representative of the development in the area in the early twentieth century. Aesthetically, the house is an intact example of the Edwardian timber villas which were constructed in this part of Kensington in the 1910s. The house is a contributory element in a largely intact streetscape.
