The buildings were once part of a row of 5shops, the center shop has been demolished however the flanking pairs remain. No 72 was occupied bypastrycooks, confectioners and cafe from the 1860s until 1950s. No 74 was occupied by bootmakers from the1860s to the 1950s.Intact and important classically derived first floor façade dating from pre 1875 with recent ground floor shopfront.ANALYSISImportant element of the historic streetscape dating from the pre 1875 period. The ground floor shopfronts arerecent. This is typical of the layering evident in other buildings in the street. A significant element within theBourke Street streetscape.RECOMMENDATIONSUpdate building grading to acknowledge contribution to the precinct.Building is worthy of further review before being considered for its own Heritage Overlay as individuallysignificant.
