Grading as at 1985 : CPeriod : Mid Victorian (1889-1890)Grantee : J Dynon 1872A furniture maker, Joseph Hale owned and resided in this house from its construction in 1889-90 until at least 1896.A single-fronted, one-level polychrome brick row house, with a cast-iron verandah and iron picket fence: it has a hipped and slated roof. Notable features include unpainted decorative brickwork, fence, verandah decoration, verandah roof and structure.Architecturally, it is a near original part of a cohesive streetscape and an example of a typical row house type in inner Melbourne: of local importance. Historically, occupied and owned by a building construction allied tradesman, typical of the study area.
