General notes:
This image is held by North Melbourne Library. Elevation, plans and sections. Contract dated 22 September 1890. The unusual circular plan of this one person urinal displays a concern with Victorian concepts of privacy at a time when most public urinals provided for several occupants. Elegance is given to the structure through cast iron ornamentation with references to classical architectural elements in the capitals, borders, columns and frieze. Local significance in the overall decoration is given through the City of Melbourne Coat of Arms.
