General notes:
Period: Inter-WarConstruction date: c1929History:The house at 62 Bayswater Road first appears in the Sands & McDougall directories in 1930 as a 'house being built'. The first occupant is noted the following year as Alfred H Shaw, who resided in the house for over two decades. By 1960, the occupant was noted Mrs M Shaw..Description:The building at 62 Bayswater Road is a single-storey inter-War red brick cottage with a longitudinally gabled roof which terminates on one side at a parapeted wall. The bullnose-profile verandah is supported on tapered rendered masonry piers and is partly enclosed by a simple brick balustrade. Windows are timber-framed double-hung sashes.Significance:The house at 62 Bayswater Road, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic importance. The house is a modest example of an inter-War Californian Bungalow style house. It is intact and makes a positive contribution to the streetscape, relating particularly to the houses at Nos. 64-68.
