General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction date: c1911History:The house at 29 Epsom Road was built c.1911. It is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1912, when the occupant was Vernon M Brennan, who remained there until at least 1930..Description:The house at 29 Epsom Road is a single-storey, block-fronted Edwardian villa with a hipped and gabled corrugated galvanised steel roof. L-shaped in plan, the projecting gabled section has carved timber bargeboards, half-timbering with roughcast render and a timber finial to the gable end. Windows are timber-framed casements; those to the projecting bay have a hood supported on timber brackets. The verandah is supported on turned timber posts; the frieze decoration has been removed. The timber picket fence is recent..Significance:The house at 29 Epsom Road, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. It is a reasonably intact example of the type of Edwardian villas which were built in this part of Kensington in the 1910s. It represents the major, formative phase of development of Kensington west of Epsom Road.
