Scope and contents

'Diana and the Hounds' was first executed by Leslie Bowles in 1939 and erected in front of the Conservatory in 1940. It was the first bronze statue to replace the old plaster and cement copies of ancient Roman and Greek sculptures placed in the gardens in the 1860s.
