The City of Melbourne Building Application Index, however, indicates that a permit to construct the house was issued on 23 February 1925. The value of the proposed house was #1,000. The first occupant of the house was noted in the directories as Ernest Griffiths, who resided in the house until the 1950s..Description:The house at 68 Bayswater Road is a single-storey inter-War red brick bungalow with a side entrance. The transverse gabled roof is clad in Marseilles pattern terracotta tiles and has a projecting gabled bay. The verandah has rendered tapered posts on red brick bases and a hit-and-miss brick balustrade. Windows are timber-framed double-hung sash windows with nine-pane upper sashes. The timber and woven wire fence is original or early..Significance:The house 68 Bayswater Road, Kensington, is of local aesthetic and historic interest. The house is an interesting example of an inter-War brick villa which is largely intact and contributes to the surrounding streetscape, relating particularly to Nos. 62, 64 and 66.
