General notes:
Grading as at 1985: BPeriod: Mid-late Victorian, construction date c 1890-1Grantee : J Simpson, A Cooper 1859Row of 5 terraces with evidence of early colour and finishes, and notable verandahs, fences and parapets with urnsAlex Cooper, a builder, who resided at 16 Capel Street, built these houses in 1890-91 and proceeded to let them. William Cooper owned them by 1896 when the tenants included Arthur Wragg, an engraver with a business in Queen Street, Kate Philp, Robert Glass, William Burt and John Paterson.A two level unpainted stuccoed brick row of five houses with a two storey ornate cast iron verandah, a corniced and parapetted roof line, and an iron picket fence. Ornament consists of panelled party wall face with urns and orbs. The iron friezes are panelled with attached finished brackets and posts. An unusual aspect to the row is the room bay brought forward to the building line at the north end in number 26, thus unifying the row with number 32-34.Architecturally, a common and late example, but is near intact.
