These firms now state that the whole activity of the Melbourne Master Printers' Association has been focussed on an attempt either to force them into joining the association or to ruin their trade. .. about fifty printers refused to join. The printing firm of Swinnerton -Bros., Little Lonsdale- street, was one of the firms that stood out side the association, and Mr. J. H. Swinnerton relates a story of "boycott" and "persecution" involving his own and other firms.... Messrs. Swinnerton Brothers state also that five firms in Melbourne recently re fused to do a special linotype card for them at any price.
