General notes:
Period: Inter War; c.1935Notable features/Significance: The house at 220 Domain Road is a double-storey inter-War rendered brick residence in a Georgian Revival style with Mediterranean influences. The asymmetrical facade has an arched entrance with rendered voussoirs. Windows are multi-paned timber-framed double-hung sashes with rendered moulded sills. Other decoration includes decorative wrought iron grilles to windows and the entrance porch. The house at 220 Domain Road, South Yarra, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. Historically, it is representative of the substantial residences which were constructed in this part of South Yarra in the inter-War period, a major phase in the development of the suburb. Aesthetically, the house is an intact example of the Georgian Revival style which was exceedingly popular in the area during the middle decades of the twentieth century, particularly for large houses.Grading review: Upgraded from F to D. The house is an intact and good example of Georgian Revival style.Occupant: Alfred D. Kewney (Sands & McDougall 1936)
