General notes:
Period: EdwardianConstruction date: 1911History:The house at 33 Gower Street was constructed c.1911. It is first listed in the Sands & McDougall directory in 1912, when it was occupied by Charles H Powell, who remained there until at least 1924..Description:Rosemont is a single-storey, block-fronted Edwardian cottage with a hipped and gabled corrugated galvanised steel roof. The gable end is half-timbered with roughcast render infill and has at its apex a timber finial. A small verandah supported on turned timber posts extends across the facade, forming a porch for the recessed side entrance. Windows are timber-framed double-hung sashes. The chimney is of red brick with a rendered capping and terracotta pots. The woven wire front fence is not original..Significance:Rosemont, at 33 Gower Street, Kensington, is of local historical and aesthetic interest. It is a reasonably intact example of the type of Edwardian cottages which were built in Kensington in the 1910s. The house represents a major phase of development of much of Kensington. The house relates visually to its neighbours at Nos. 31 and 35.
